Print It!
	My grandson just turned twelve years old. “What’s wrong grandpa?” he asked me while I had my face in my hands, sitting in front of the computer. “Nothing son, just that this document isn’t printing. I tried everything. I purged the print jobs, restarted the printer, unplugged it and plugged it back in, checked the toner, closed the word processor and opened it again, restarted the computer. I tried everything. It’s not going to work. I’ll have to take it down to the store and have them look at it,” I said.
“Hmm! Let me have a look Grandpa,” he said and was already shoving me away from the computer. I figured it wouldn’t be any harm letting the little boy try to solve my big person problems. I thought I’d let him figure out for himself that it couldn’t be solved and then both of us could drive down to the computer store and have the problem looked at.
The boy was completely at home using the computer. He asked if he’d opened the right document, clicked on print and waited. Nothing happened. He switched off and turned on the printer and I kept staring at the kid with a smug look on my face. He waited another moment, then turned around and smiled, as though he’d sorted out the problem.
“Grandpa,” he said. “Why don’t you insert a sheet of paper into the printer. Maybe that would give the printer something to print on.” Now he looked smug.
